The Blues Foundation ujawniła listę nominacji do 38. edycji najważniejszych nagród w świecie bluesa. Gala 38th Blues Music Award zaplanowana została na 11 maja 2017 roku, oczywiście w Memphis.
Wśród nominowanych muzyków i zespołów nie brak wykonawców dobrze znanych polskiej publiczności. Wśród muzyków akustycznych jest choćby Luther Dickinson, są goście tegorocznego Jimiway Blues Festival - Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials czy Jesieni z Bluesem - Sugar Ray and the Bluetones. W 2016 roku najważniejszą gwiazdą najstarszego festiwalu bluesowego w Polsce był nominowany obok Joe Bonamassy w kategorii "B.B. King Entertainer" Sugaray Rayford, a także występujący dzień wcześniej w Białymstoku Sugar Ray Norcia i dobrze znany w Polsce John Nemeth. Wspomniany Sugaray Rayford t także kandydat na najlepszego współczesneg wykonawcę bluesowego. Wśród kobiet nominowanych do tego tytułu są m. in. Ana Popovic, Janiva Magness, czy Shemekia Copeland. Wśród wokalistek preferujących tradycyjnego bluesa znalazła się choćby Inetta Visor, któej występu transmitowanego z Jimiway Blues Festival przez Program 3 Polskiego Radia mógł wysłuchać każdy posiadacz internetu na świecie.
